The Tyson Events Center includes the 10,000 seat Gateway Arena attached to a renovated Municipal Auditorium. The design of the new arena and the renovation of the historic Auditorium melds the functional efficiency of the new with the traditional Art Modern décor of the old. This was done not only to help with securing historic tax credits as part of the financing for the project, but also to retain the monumental presence of the Auditorium as a key element of Sioux City ’s front door.

The new Gateway Arena is an extremely flexible venue for a wide variety of entertainment and sporting events. The facility includes a full-size ice hockey rink with a U-shaped seating bowl surrounding it. A stage for performances can be placed either at the open end of the seating bowl or in the center of the floor for “in-the-round” shows. A section of seating behind the concourse on the closed end of the “U” will only be used for maximum capacity crowd seating. When the audiences are smaller, high seating and perhaps other sections of the seating bowl can be screened off to create a more intimate atmosphere.

For Musketeer games, the upper balcony section is covered leaving room for approximately 4500 hockey fans in the Bowl seating and Standing Room only areas.

Consessions and catering at the Tyson Events Center are handled by Distinctive Gourmet. Fans can choose from a large variety of beverage and food items. Suite holders have the option to have food catered to their suite for the evening.

Sioux City’s historic Auditorium has been transformed into the new Long Lines Family Center with the main auditorium space converted into a multi-court facility for community level athletic competitions in basketball, volleyball, wrestling, indoor soccer and many other uses. A portion of the original seating has retained for spectators at these events. Other portions of the structure have become community recreation facilities as well as support space and facilities for the Gateway Arena operation.
