Sioux City unable to complete 2nd consecutive sweep

SIOUX CITY, IA--The Musketeers took on the Youngstown Phantoms on Saturday night, but unlike Friday were unable take down the Phantoms as Youngstown skated to a 4-2 victory.

Youngstown came out hungry in the 1st period and they were rewarded early.  Matthew Barry picked up a rebound in front of the net and was able to squeeze it under the pads of Matt Jurusik to give Youngstown a 1-0 lead just 5 minutes into the game.  Youngstown continued to control much of the play in the 1st period and widened their lead with 2 minutes to go in the period.  Once again, it was Matthew Barry who found the back of the net on a nice wrist shot to give Youngstown a 2-0 lead.

The 2nd period was a much better period for the Musketeers as they put the pressure on Youngstown for the first half of the period.  Youngstown started to push back in the 2nd half of the period, but the Musketeers would get an opportunity after Jack Malone was called for roughing.  Sampo Ranta would get the Musketeers a critical powerplay goal off a rocket from just outside the faceoff dot to cut the deficit to one. The play would even out the rest of the period with both teams getting their chances, but the score would hold.  Sioux City would head into the 3rd still down a goal.

Youngstown came out hungry in the 3rd and were able to convert early again on a goal from Tommy Parrottino to give Youngstown a 3-1 lead.  The Musketeers refused to go down without a fight and managed to cut the lead to one again on a goal from Micah Miller.  After catching a pass at the blueline, Cole Koepke skated hard down the middle before threading a pass through traffic to Miller, who buried it to cut the lead to 3-2.

Unfortunately, Sioux City couldn't complete the comeback on Saturday.  Mike Regush added an empty net goal to seal the 4-2 win for the Phantoms.
