The Musketeers have picked up Akira Schmid & the 2020 Phase II 5th pick from Omaha in a trade for the 2020 Phase II 1st pick. Schmid has played in the USHL for the past 2 years and has played in 43 games with a 18-16-3 record. Schmid was also the 2018 5th round 136th pick overall by the New Jersey Devils. The 19-year-old 6'5" 205 lbs. goalie out of of Bern, Switzerland has not commited to a college. Schmid this year has only played in 6 games for the Lancers and a 2-2-1 record and a .891 SV%. Akira was selected to the IIHF World Junior Championship team for Switzerland and playing 3 games in the Championship last year, along with the Switzerland U20 International Junior team in 6 games last year and 3 games this year. General Manager Andy Johnson had this to say about bringing Schmid onboard: "We weren't in the hunt for another goaltender but any time you can add a player with a world-class pedigree like Schmid to your locker room you do what it takes to make the deal. Akira is one of the best goaltenders in this league - he's proven that time and time again. We're excited to add him to this group as we push forward in the second half."
