Musketeers pick up 3 points on the road

The Musketeers traveled to Fargo, North Dakota for the first time this season for the 3rd and 4th matchup in a doubleheader against the Fargo Force. Saturday the Musketeers took a 4-3 Shootout victory over the Force and completed the doubleheader with a 3-2 overtime loss Sunday.

Saturday the Musketeers started in a hole with a 2-0 deficit after two late goals by the Force in the 1st period. The Musketeers would respond early in the 2nd with Josh Nixon and his 5th goal on the year assisted by Sam Stange extending Stange’s point streak to 14 in the last 9 games. Nolan Krenzen would get his first goal of the year half way through the period to tie it up at 2 a piece. The Musketeers would continue to put pucks in the net as Sam Antenucci would get his 7th goal of the year tipping in a pass by Tommy Pasanen.  Fargo would not go quietly though as they found the smallest hole between Haider and the pipe and were able to squeak it through to tie it up at 3 at the 11:02 mark. Overtime would see no goals either sending the Musketeers to their 2nd shootout of the season. The Musketeers would shoot first with the man on a hot streak Sam Stange who would score the first and only goal of the shootout giving the Musketeers a 4-3 Shootout victory over the Force, and Ethan Haider with an outstanding night as well saving 32 of 35 shots along with a penalty shot and all three shots in the shootout.

Sioux City would look to take the momentum into the next day in another game against the Force. The Force would start out fast once again scoring two goals in the 1st period to once again give them a quick 2-0 lead to close out the 1st period of play, but with retaliation the Musketeers were able to put a puck in the back of the net with Ethan Harrison with his 4th goal of the year with 5:32 left in the 2nd period making it 2-1 heading into the final regulation period. The Musketeers would tie it up with Ray Christy at the 15:53 mark enough to send this one to an extra 5 minutes of play as well. The Force would not let this one go to a shootout though scoring with 2:12 left in overtime to seal the victory.

The Musketeers return home to the Tyson Events Center on Sunday, January 12th at 3:05 P.M. to take on the Fargo Force once again, along with the last skate with the players for this year.
