Musketeers start 5-game home stand

The Musketeers will take on the Tri-City Storm on Friday, January 31st and the Omaha Lancers on Saturday, February 1st this weekend to start a 5-game home stand at the Tyson Events Center with a 13-14-6-1 record, along with the 2nd annual Teacher's Dash for Cash sponsored by Fleet Farm, Great Western Bank and Vern Eide Honda on February 1st.

Tri-City and Omaha both beat the Musketeers in their last meetings. Tri-City a 6-5 shootout loss and a disappointing 6-1 lost last weekend to the Lancers. The Musketeers will be looking to strike back with a new incoming player and the former Muskegon Lumberjack AJ Hodges.

Sioux City’s Sam Stange is 5th in the league in goals scored with his 20 goals this season. Stange has only 1 goal and 1 assist in the games against the Lancers this season and 4 total points against the Storm this season, meaning those two teams have been able to keep Stange’s ability to see the puck to the net very limited.  Sioux City will have to take care of the puck after the Lancers beat the Musketeers in the 6-1 matchup last weekend. The Musketeers are currently the 2nd best team in the Western Conference on the powerplay, meaning the two teams coming to town this weekend will have to limit their time in the box. Omaha did not allow a single powerplay opportunity for the Musketeers in this last weekends game and going 2/5 total this season. The Storm allowed 1 goal of 11 powerplay opportunities for Sioux City this season.

Tri-City the 2nd best in the West is at 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, a hot streak that includes two wins against the Musketeers back in December. Tri-City has won 2 of the last 3 meetings between the teams this season. The Lancers also on a hot streak at 5-3-1-1 in their last 10 including a New Years Eve victory over the Musketeers and the win over Sioux City this past weekend in Omaha. The Lancers are 2-0-1 against the Musketeers this year the only loss to the team coming in overtime at the home opener at the beginning of the season for the Musketeers.

The Musketeers will then return home next weekend for a tripleheader weekend against our I-29 rival the Sioux Falls Stampede for the 5th and 6th matchup of the season on Friday, February 7th and Saturday, February 8th at 7:05 P.M. and conclude the weekend Sunday, February 9th at 3:05 P.M. against the Fargo Force.
