Maatta Commits To Vermont

Sioux City Musketeers forward Joel Maatta has announced his intention to continue his education and hockey career at the University of Vermont. The Catamounts are members of Hockey East and are led by first-year head coach Todd Woodcroft.
 
The 18-year old Helsinki, Finland, native has accumulated 13 points through 37 games of his second season in a Musketeer uniform. Maatta wrapped up his USHL rookie campaign with 11 goals and 14 assists in 43 games a season ago.
 
The physical two-way centerman previously spent three seasons representing Team Finland on the international junior hockey circuit, where he posted six goals and 18 assists in 43 career games.
 
Maatta and the Musketeers are currently riding a three-game winning streak and have won five of their last six games. The squad returns home on Saturday, March 13 to take on Tri City with puck drop set fr 7:05pm.
