(Fargo, ND) - Chase Bradley scored twice, including the game-winning goal, while Akira Schmid finished with a season-high 42 saves as the Musketeers topped Fargo 3-2 on Saturday.
The first goal of the game didn’t occur until there was 13:12 left in the second period when Justin Hryckowian won a faceoff in the offensive zone and passed to Gabe Blanchard at the blue line. Blanchard then lined up a slapshot that whizzed past Force netminder Brennan Boynton’s gloved left hand for his fifth goal of the season.
Bradley doubled the Musketeer lead with 12:47 remaining in regulation, corralling a cross-ice pass and slapping it into the back of the net on the power play. Fargo managed to cut the lead in half, scoring with less than three minutes to play but Hryckowian passed to Bradley for an empty net goal in the minute to put the game away. The Force managed to score with one second left but it was too little, too late as the Musketeers completed the weekend sweep.
Schmid’s previous season-high for saves in a single game was 27, which he’s accomplished three times. Sioux City is now 21-20-1 and returns to action on Friday for a road contest at Sioux Falls.
