Matchup: Wednesday will mark the ninth meeting of the season between the I-29 rivals, with Sioux City winning five of the first eight contests. The Stampede earned a 3-2 overtime victory on January 14 but the Musketeers rebounded with a 4-3 win the following night. The next day Sioux City defended their home ice with a 6-2 romp of the Stampede but Sioux Falls evened the season series with a 1-0 shutout victory on January 30. Sioux City won 3-2 in overtime the following afternoon before the Stampede rallied for a 4-3 win on February 12. However the two most recent meetings belong to the Musketeers, winning 4-2 on February 14 and 3-2 last Friday. The two team’s last regular season matchup is scheduled for April 16 in Sioux Falls.

About the Stampede: Sioux Falls enters Wednesday’s contest sitting sixth place in the Western Conference standings, seven points behind fifth-place Sioux City and eight points out of playoff position. The Stampede snapped a four-game losing skid in their most recent contest, taking down Fargo 4-2 on Saturday. Sioux Falls has a pair of midseason acquisitions averaging over a point per game; Cole Sillinger (21-20--41 in 26 games) and Luke Toporowski (13-14--27 in 25 games). Sillinger’s 21 goals are tied for seventh-most in the USHL this season. The Regina, SK, native is currently riding a 14-game point streak, the second-longest active streak league-wide.
