(Sioux City, IA) - The Sioux City Musketeers cruised to their fifth consecutive victory on Wednesday, rolling past Sioux Falls 5-0 at the Tyson Events Center.

The Musketeers opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal just under five minutes into the contest. Joel Maatta was denied on a breakaway attempt but Brenden Olson collected the puck on a rebound and slotted it past Stampede goaltender Trent Burnham. Later in the period Maatta snapped a wristshot past Burnham’s gloved left hand for an unassisted goal.

Ben Steeves put Sioux City ahead 3-0 with a breakaway goal five minutes into the second period and added a second goal with 1:37 to play before the next intermission. Bennett Schimek would cap the scoring with a goal four minutes into the third frame, providing more than enough goal support for netminder Akira Schmid, who finished with 23 saves.

The Musketeers are now 24-20-1 and return to action Friday night against Lincoln.
