SIOUX CITY, IOWA—The Musketeers have acquired forward Sammy Walker from the Lincoln Stars in exchange for goaltender Tomas Vomacka the team announced Tuesday morning.

Walker, a University of Minnesota commit, only played in 4 games for the Stars last season and spent most of the year playing for Edina High School in Minnesota.  After an average freshman campaign Walker has put up very impressive numbers the past two seasons.  In 2015-16 he scored 19 goals and added 18 assists for a total of 37 points in 25 games.  Last year he raised his game even more scoring 22 goals with 24 assists for a total of 46 points in 25 games, and hopes are high for this season with many already penciling him in as a finalist for the prestigious Mr. Hockey award. To top off a fantastic 2016-17 season Walker was drafted in the 7th round of the NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning with the 200th overall pick.  “Acquiring Sammy gives us another offensive catalyst.  He dominated the Midwest Elite League and his Edina High School season a year ago while preparing for the USHL.  Sammy offers an explosive skater, dynamic stick, and a commitment to become a standout.  He will be a fun player to watch!”  Said Musketeer’s Head Coach Luke Strand

The Musketeers will open their season at home against the Sioux Falls Stampede on October 14th. Flex tickets, group tickets, and season tickets are available now!  Call the Musketeer office at (712)252-2116 for more information.
