On Monday former Musketeer Coach Jay Varady was named Head Coach of the Tuscon Roadrunners, the AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes.
Varady was behind the bench for four seasons with the Musketeers and posted an extremely impressive 136-88-0-16 overall record. In his final season with the Musketeers in 2016-17 Varady led the Musketeers to one of their best seasons in franchise history. The team recorded 40 wins and an Anderson Cup before losing in game 5 of the Clark Cup finals to the Chicago Steel. Varady spent last season coaching the Kingston Frontenacs of the WHL where he led the Frontenacs to a record of 36-23-6-3 before eventually losing to the Hamilton Bulldogs in five games in the OHL Eastern Conference Championship.
Varady has found success at every level, and it shouldn’t be long before he gets his shot behind an NHL bench.
